Handmade Green Leather Sneakers for Men - Cyrene Low Top Trainers
The Cyrene is a low top leather sneaker for men in deep forest green and cream, handmade in Nigeria by Owen T. The upper is cut from smooth leather in contrast panels, laced with flat cotton laces, and carries the Owen T roundel on the side quarter. It sits on a chunky white rubber cupsole with a soft mint tint running through the midsole, so the shoe reads clean and modern from across a room and shows its handwork up close. Green and cream is easier to wear than all white and less severe than all black, which makes this a rare thing: one sneaker that works with tailored trousers on a Friday and with jeans on a Saturday. Available in men's EU 40 to 46, with UK, US and foot length equivalents in the size guide below. If you fall between two sizes, message us before ordering and we will advise. Wear it with cropped chinos, dark denim, a linen suit or under a kaftan. The green does the work, so keep the rest of the outfit quiet. Every pair is cut, stitched and finished by hand in Nigeria, so small variations in grain, colour depth and stitch line are normal and are the mark of a handmade shoe rather than a fault. Care: wipe with a soft dry cloth after wear, treat with a neutral leather conditioner every few weeks, keep away from direct heat, and store with shoe trees or stuffed with paper so the shape holds.

Handmade Leather Mules for Men - Brown Hair On Hide Backless Loafers
The Owen T mule is a backless leather slip on for men, handmade in Nigeria from hair on goat hide. The upper keeps the natural brown and white markings of the hide, so no two pairs carry the same pattern, and a single leather strap runs across the vamp with a small keeper. It is built on a closed round toe with an open back, which is the shape that makes a mule work: it goes on in one motion but still holds the foot properly, unlike a slide. The black sole has a low stacked edge, so it reads as a proper shoe rather than a house slipper. Wear them for the things a loafer is too formal for and a trainer is too casual for: dinner, a weekend, an evening at home that still has people in the room. They sit well with tailored trousers, dark denim, and with a kaftan or agbada. Available in men's EU 40 to 46, with UK, US and foot length equivalents in the size guide below. Mules are held across the strap rather than at the heel, so message us if you fall between two sizes. Because the upper is a natural hair on hide, the brown and white markings, the direction of the hair and the depth of colour differ from pair to pair and from the photographs. That is the material, not a fault. Care: brush gently along the direction of the hair with a soft brush, spot clean with a barely damp cloth and let dry away from heat. Do not soak or machine wash. Store in the box away from direct sunlight.

Pink Heart Print Ankara Two Piece Set - Shirt & Wide Leg Trousers
A hot pink and royal blue Ankara two piece set, handmade in Nigeria by Lummy Atelier. The collared short sleeve shirt is cut in a bright pink cotton wax print with a white heart outline motif, and pairs with matching royal blue wide leg trousers in the same heart print, so the co-ord reads bold without trying too hard. The shirt has a relaxed, breathable fit that skims rather than clings. The trousers sit on the natural waist and fall in a long, fluid wide leg that lengthens the line and moves well when you walk. Available in Small, Medium, Large and Extra Large. Made from cotton Ankara wax print fabric, so it breathes in warm weather, holds its colour through repeated washes and presses back to a crisp finish. Wear the set together for weddings, owambe, church, brunch, birthday shoots and holiday dressing, or split it up: the pink Ankara shirt works over jeans or white tailoring, and the blue wide leg trousers carry a plain top on their own. Every piece is cut and sewn in small batches by our team in Nigeria, so slight variations in print placement are part of the character of the garment. Care: machine wash cold on a gentle cycle or hand wash. Wash separately for the first two washes, hang to dry away from direct sunlight and iron on a medium heat on the reverse.

Beaded Mixed Media Canvas Art
An original, one-of-a-kind contemporary painting built up in beads, ceramic shards, air-drying clay and acrylic on canvas. The work explores the human connection that grows over time, and the beauty of those bonds in modern life where isolation is increasingly common. Layers of beadwork and broken ceramic give the surface a tactile, sculptural texture that shifts with the light, so the piece reads differently from across a room than it does up close. Measuring 70 x 70 cm, this square mixed media canvas makes a statement wall art piece for a living room, hallway, studio or office, and sits comfortably in both minimal and richly layered interiors. Handmade in Nairobi by artist Njuki, whose practice centres on themes of mending, rewiring and evolution. Because every bead and shard is placed by hand, this is a unique original artwork - no two pieces are alike.

Chains Within Impasto Portrait
Chains Within is an original African Beauty impasto portrait painting on canvas. This painting titled "The Chains Within" is among other paintings under the theme "African Beauty" The heavy multicolored impasto paint layered onto the central child's face represents a complex inner world of thoughts and ancestral memories. African beauty is redefined as psychological armor that's transforming internal struggles into a vibrant, display of grace and strength. The two abstract background children; one in warm magenta and the other in cool blue that represent shadows of the self or ancestors. They illustrate that these internal "chains" are actually unbreakable, invisible bonds of shared history, lineage and a collective community identity. The thick dense texture of the paint mirrors the physical weight of carrying one's heritage, while the sharp contrast between the bright yellow clothing and the deep, moody background highlights the capacity to radiate intense outward joy while holding immense silent depth within.

Poise Geometric Acrylic Painting
Poise is an original acrylic on canvas painting by Victor Ubabike, a Nigerian contemporary artist widely recognised for his practice of Geometric Figurative Expressionism. Completed in 2023, this large-scale figurative work measures 91.44 × 106.68 cm (approximately 36 × 42 inches) and is sold unframed. The painting is less about posture and more about restraint — the mastery of tension held in stillness. Ubabike's signature approach of reducing the human form to bold geometric planes and muted, considered colour creates a composition that radiates quiet gravity. There is a controlled power in the figure's stance: nothing is excessive, everything is deliberate. "Poise" becomes a meditation on inner equilibrium and the strength found in stillness. This is a compelling work for collectors of African contemporary art, figurative painting, and expressive fine art. It represents over two decades of Ubabike's practice — from Impressionism through abstraction to his current Geometric Figurative Expressionist voice, shaped by a rigorous formal training at Auchi Polytechnic and years of international exhibition. — Original, one-of-a-kind artwork — Medium: Acrylic on canvas — Dimensions: 91.44 × 106.68 cm (36 × 42 in) — Year: 2023 — Sold unframed — Artist: Victor Ubabike (b. 1982, Auchi, Edo State, Nigeria)

Weight of Adornment Acrylic Art
The Weight of Adornment is an original acrylic on canvas painting by Victor Ubabike, one of Nigeria's most compelling contemporary painters. Created in 2026, this large-scale figurative work measures 106.68 x 96.52 cm (approximately 42 x 38 inches) and is sold unframed. Rooted in Ubabike's signature style of Geometric Figurative Expressionism, the painting explores the cultural and psychological complexity of adornment — the way what we wear can simultaneously celebrate identity and impose expectation. A central figure draped in vibrant patterned cloth is rendered through simplified, abstracted forms set against muted tones, punctuated by a bold red fabric that draws the eye and anchors the composition. The contrast between restraint and colour evokes the tension between self-expression and the weight of social meaning. This is a statement piece for collectors of African contemporary art, figurative painting, and culturally resonant fine art. It carries the depth of Ubabike's two-decade practice — a journey from Impressionism through abstraction to his current Geometric Figurative Expressionist voice. — Original, one-of-a-kind artwork — Medium: Acrylic on canvas — Dimensions: 106.68 x 96.52 cm (42 x 38 in) — Year: 2026 — Sold unframed — Artist: Victor Ubabike (b. 1982, Auchi, Edo State, Nigeria)

Amilcar Cabral A3 History Print
Amilcar Cabral A3 History Print, an illustrated portrait poster on fine paper. Amilcar Cabral — The Engineer Who Armed a Revolution Amilcar Cabral was not just a freedom fighter. He was an agronomist who looked at the soil of Portuguese Guinea and saw the chains of a colonial economy built to extract, not to feed. Born in 1924 in Bafata, he trained as an agricultural engineer in Lisbon, the very capital of the empire he would spend his life dismantling. There he found other African students plotting independence in cafes and dorm rooms. He carried that education home and turned it into strategy. In 1956 he founded the PAIGC, the African Party for the Independence of Guinea and Cape Verde, the only liberation movement fighting to free two countries with one struggle. By the early 1960s talk had become war. He built schools and clinics in the liberated zones while his guerrillas held off one of NATO's own member armies. Unfortunately, he was assassinated on January 20, 1973, in Conakry, cut down by a rival within his own movement only months before Guinea-Bissau declared the independence he died for. Cabral never reached the promised land either. But the two flags he fought to raise both went up without him, and the soil he studied as a young engineer finally became his people's own.

Bob Marley A3 Reggae Art Print
Bob Marley A3 Reggae Art Print, an illustrated reggae icon poster on fine paper. Bob Marley — The Lion Who Didn't Wait for the Crown Bob Marley was not just a singer. He was a voice rising from the Jamaican soil, a prophet in an open shirt and rastas on his head. He took up music the way others take up a rifle: to wake the sleeping, and to tell the powerful that their day would come. Born in Nine Mile, raised in dust and dignity, he saw poverty and chose to turn it into a rhythm. Not to weep — but to march. So that Trenchtown would become a consciousness, not just a ghetto. While others spoke of liberation, Marley sang it. He never held a gun, but his songs shook more governments than an army ever could. *Get up, stand up*… that wasn't an invitation, it was an order. And the order came from below, from the people, from the sacred smoke. Unfortunately, the lion did not see Zion in his lifetime. Illness caught up with him on May 11, 1981, before he could rest his dreadlocks on a truly free land. But what he sowed in people's hearts — unity, gentle rebellion, love that resists — no one will ever be able to assassinate. Bob Marley never reached the promised land. But without him, no one would have known how to dance along the way.

Wiz Khalifa A3 Hip Hop Art Print
Wiz Khalifa A3 Hip Hop Art Print, an illustrated rap icon poster on fine paper. Wiz Khalifa — The Dreamer Who Turned Smoke Into a Crown Wiz Khalifa is not just a rapper. He is a vibe all on his own, a kid from Pittsburgh who became a king without ever raising his voice. He took to rap the way others breathe: slowly, deeply, with a smirk on his face. No need for heavy chains to shine. He chose tattoos, lowriders, drifting clouds, and that legendary weed he turned into a global anthem. *Black and Yellow*? That wasn't just a song — it was a flag. And behind that flag stood a whole nation of dreamers, skaters, and youth who just wanted to be themselves. While others shouted of war, Wiz chose peace. Not a soft peace — a conquered peace, freedom found in the tempo, success without hatred. He never needed to fight for two countries like Cabral. He fought for a single kingdom: the right to control his own life, his image, and his breath. Unfortunately for the haters, he achieved it all. The millions, the sold-out venues, the love, the respect. And he keeps going, slowly, calmly, rolling on like a modern sage. Wiz Khalifa is not a martyr. He is something much better: a happy survivor. And in the rap game, that might just be the greatest statement of all.

Malcolm X A3 Black History Print
Malcolm X A3 Black History Print, an illustrated portrait poster on fine paper. Malcolm X — The Truth That Still Burns Malcolm X was not just an activist. He was an armed conscience, a voice rising from the flames, a man born in pain and killed for daring to name the evil. Raised in the storms of segregated America, he saw his father murdered, his mother broken, and his youth stolen. In prison, he reinvented himself. Not to beg for a seat at the table — but to flip the entire table over. From the Nation of Islam to Mecca, he never stopped growing, unlearning, and searching for absolute justice. He spoke out loud what the oppressed only whispered: *by any means necessary*. Not out of hatred — out of necessity. Because turning the other cheek when your house is being burned down isn't virtue, it's cowardice. While others talked about integration, Malcolm talked about dignity. While microphones were being held out to him, traps were being set. He never backed down. Even when he knew death was lurking. Unfortunately, the bullets caught up with him on February 21, 1965, in Harlem, in front of his wife and daughters. He never saw the end of American apartheid. He never saw a Black president in the White House. But what he planted in people's minds — the refusal to bend, an indestructible self-respect — doesn't need a grave to live on. Malcolm X is not dead. They only killed his body. But his words have never laid down their arms.

Martin Luther King Jr A3 Print
Martin Luther King Jr A3 Print, an illustrated portrait poster on fine paper. Martin Luther King Jr. — The Dreamer Who Walked on Lightning Martin Luther King Jr. was not just a pastor. He was a backbone dressed in a suit, a voice rising from the Deep South to tell America that it would never sleep peacefully again until it stood upright for everyone. He did not choose violence. Not out of weakness — out of strength. Because he knew that hatred is better fought with unyielding dignity than with a raised fist. He took the Bible, Gandhi, and a microphone, and he marched. From Montgomery to Selma, from Birmingham to the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, he carried on his shoulders an entire people tired of waiting. *I have a dream…* those four words were not a poem. They were a promise. A mortgage on the future. He spoke of his little children one day being judged not by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. He spoke softly, but every word weighed heavier than a chain. Unfortunately, a sniper's bullet caught up with him on April 4, 1968, in Memphis. He never saw his dream fully realized. He never saw the civil rights laws truly transform hearts. He never saw a Black president sit in the office he had shaken to its core. But what he sowed — non-violence as a weapon, love as a strategy, hope as resistance — no one will ever be able to bury with him. Martin Luther King Jr. never reached the promised land. But he showed the way. And millions are still walking it today.

Arts
Photoshot 1 Nigerian Art Print
First in the "Photoshot" pair, a music-inspired contemporary Nigerian print built around photographic composition and movement. Brings energy and a documentary feel to a wall, distinct from the painterly style of Macaw Design House's other series. At 3ft x 3ft (91.44cm), it works well in a studio, creative office, or anywhere you want a print with a sense of motion and performance rather than a still, posed scene.

Buying guide
What lands in new arrivals
New arrivals is the fastest-moving page on Sokofa: every product here was recently listed by one of our verified artisans, from first collections by newly joined designers to fresh batches from established studios. Because makers list work as they finish it, the mix changes continuously — fashion one week, a run of ceramics or original art the next.
Handmade work tends to arrive in small batches, so if a new piece catches your eye, it is worth moving sooner rather than later — many listings are one-of-one or made in editions of a handful. Anything that sells through may be relisted when the artisan makes more, but with natural variation between batches.
Checking this page regularly is the closest thing to walking the market: you see what African makers are producing right now, before it surfaces anywhere else on the site.
Common questions
About buying new arrivals on Sokofa
How often are new products added?
Continuously — artisans list new work as they finish it, so the page refreshes throughout the week rather than on a fixed schedule. If you want first pick, checking back regularly is the best strategy.
Are new arrivals limited stock?
Often, yes. Handmade work arrives in small batches, and some pieces — particularly original art and one-off garments — are one-of-one. The stock level on each product page tells you what is available.
Are new vendors verified before their products appear here?
Yes. Every vendor on Sokofa is personally verified before their first listing goes live, so a product being new never means it is unvetted.
Do new arrivals ship worldwide?
Yes — like everything on Sokofa, new arrivals ship internationally, with delivery times and costs confirmed at checkout. If anything arrives damaged or not as described, contact support within 48 hours of delivery.
