An original acrylic painting on canvas, 18 by 26 inches, of a musician playing the goje, the one string fiddle of northern Ghana, in magenta, green and gold. The player sits behind his instrument with his eyes closed and his mouth open in song, the gourd bowl of the fiddle swinging round in the foreground and the bow laid across it. The artist writes the instrument's name as goji. Everything is broken into loose vertical strokes of colour, so the man, the fiddle and the room seem to dissolve into the sound, and a row of pink flower forms along the bottom edge carries the freshness of the title. At 18 by 26 inches it is a good size for a living room or a study wall where one painting has to carry the room. If you want music in quieter colour, the artist's flute player painting, The Masterpiece, is the calmer piece; this one is for a wall that can take full saturation. Painted by hand in acrylic on canvas and signed Lexis in the lower right. The artist says it is shipped rolled in a tube. Keep it out of direct sunlight and dust with a soft dry brush.
