Mother and Child, Green Kaba Painting

An original acrylic painting of a mother holding her sleeping child. Painted at 13 by 20 inches and signed Lexis, it shows a woman in profile in a green and red kaba and matching headwrap, a gold hoop at her ear and a patterned bag on her arm, her child asleep against her. Around them the ground is scattered with painted petals in greens, ochre and blue, so the quiet moment sits inside a shower of colour. The shop holds other mother pieces by the same hand: in Glowing Love mother and baby look at each other, and in Mother and Son the child rides on her back. This is the one where the child sleeps, which is its own kind of trust. Ships rolled in a tube, unframed.
