Anxiety Cometh Not Oil Painting

Anxiety Cometh (Not) is a large-scale original oil painting on canvas by Nigerian artist Muktar Yusuf, measuring 4 feet by 3 feet and created in 2025. This deeply moving contemporary African artwork addresses the raw reality of mental health struggles, exploring the hollow state that anxiety and emotional exhaustion can create when life's challenges become overwhelming. Through powerful imagery and rich oil colours, the artist captures the tension between despair and the enduring promise of hope. The painting speaks to the universal experience of feeling crushed by circumstance yet finding that only hope can bring warmth and life back to a cold, lifeless state of being. The large canvas format gives this piece commanding presence, making it impossible to ignore in any space. The emotional depth and technical mastery combine to create an artwork that resonates on a profoundly personal level. Perfect for collectors of meaningful contemporary African art, mental health advocates, galleries, and spaces that value art with a purpose. A powerful conversation-starting piece that brings awareness to mental health while celebrating the triumph of hope over anxiety.
