African Woman Portrait Wall Art

A portrait of a Black woman rendered in gold and warm brown against a background of pink, orange and violet. She meets the viewer's eye directly, shoulders bare, chin level, with none of the softening that portraits of women so often carry. The mood is calm authority rather than decoration. The palette is the point. Gold and copper across the skin, hot pink and tangerine behind, violet cooling the edges. It is a warm piece, so it lifts a room with cool grey or white walls and holds its own against exposed brick, dark green or navy. Size 60 x 40cm, portrait orientation. Supplied on canvas in a wood frame with a varnished finish, ready to hang straight out of the box. It works as a single statement above a sofa, a bed or a console table, or as the anchor of a gallery wall with smaller abstract or typographic pieces around it. Because it is portrait rather than landscape, it suits a narrow wall, a chimney breast or an alcove where a wide piece would not fit. By Wisdom Mullar. Colour may read a little differently in person than on screen, and the light in your room will change how the gold and pink sit together. Care: hang out of direct sunlight, which fades pigment over time. Dust with a dry soft cloth. Do not use water, solvents or spray cleaners on the surface.
