Measure across the back from one shoulder to the other shoulder, usually from shoulder bone to shoulder bone. Keep the tape straight across the upper back.

Measure around the fullest part of the bust, keeping the tape level across your back. Don’t pull it tight.

Measure around the natural waist, usually the narrowest part of the torso, above the belly button. Keep the tape comfortably snug.

Measure around the fullest/widest part of your hips and buttocks, keeping the tape level all the way around.

Start at the top of the shoulder and measure straight down to the bust point (nipple). This tells the tailor where the bust is positioned.

1. Stand upright in your normal posture. 2. Place the start of the tape at the top of your shoulder, where the shoulder seam/strap would sit. 3. Let the tape run straight down the front of your body, over the bust. 4. Stop at the underbust line — directly underneath your breasts, where a bra band normally sits. 5. Keep the tape flat against your body without pulling it tight.

Start at the top of the shoulder and measure down over the bust to the natural waistline.

Measure straight distance between both nipple points.

1. Stand straight with your feet together. 2. Place the measuring tape at the top of your shoulder, close to the neck. 3. Run the tape straight down the front of your body. 4. Stop at your desired hemline — for example, ankle, floor, or just above the floor.
