Beaded Africa Map Wall Art, Green and Pink, Greek Letters

A hand carved Africa map in sese wood, covered in green glass seed beads, with Greek letters and a date picked out in soft pink across the continent. It hangs as a single piece, about the size of a large hardback, so it suits a hallway, a study wall or a shelf ledge where a framed print would be too much. Of the lettered maps in this maker's range this is the softest, the one that reads as colour first and wood second, so it holds its own on a pale or white wall where the black and gold version would go flat. The continent is cut from sese wood, a light Ghanaian hardwood that carvers also use for drums, then covered bead by bead in green, with the lettering and a fine double outline worked in pink that follows the whole coastline. The back is left as plain stained wood with a hanging hook fitted, so it goes straight onto a nail or a picture hook with nothing else needed. It measures about 28cm tall and 21cm wide. Dust it with a dry soft brush or a cloth. Keep it out of direct sunlight, which fades glass beads over time, and off a damp wall.
