Sokofa was born from a simple dream, to bring the richness of Africa’s creativity and craftsmanship to the world through honest, beautiful African imports.

The idea first took root in the heart of Tope Abuloye, an entrepreneur driven by a deep love for business and African culture. His first venture, BuyAvrika, spotlighted African art and opened his eyes to the incredible talent across the continent, and the challenges many creators faced in accessing global markets. That experience planted the seed for something bigger.

When life took Tope to Edinburgh for further studies in marketing and entrepreneurship, his vision sharpened. Distance gave him a fresh appreciation for the textures, colors, and soul of Africa. He realized he didn’t just want the world to admire Africa, he wanted people everywhere to connect with it, support its makers, and experience its magic firsthand.

Sokofa became that bridge, a way to shop African imports directly from local creators, and to celebrate the stories, spirit, and skill woven into every product.
