Instagram Data Deletion
Request permanent deletion of all data Sokofa collected through your Instagram connection. This page satisfies Meta's Data Deletion Instructions requirement for apps using the Instagram Graph API.
What data Sokofa holds from Instagram
When a Sokofa vendor connects their Instagram account, we store the following data associated with their Instagram account ID:
- OAuth access token: Used to fetch your posts on demand. Encoded and stored server-side only.
- Instagram account ID & username: Stored to identify the connection and display in the vendor dashboard.
- Profile picture URL & follower count: Displayed in the vendor dashboard for reference.
- Imported post data: Post ID, permalink, caption, image URLs, media type, and posting date for each post you chose to import.
- Draft products from imported posts: If you converted an imported post into a product draft, that draft includes the Instagram image and caption.
- Analytics events: Events such as connection initiated, posts synced, and drafts created, linked to your vendor account.
How to request deletion
Send a deletion email
Email privacy@sokofa.com with the subject line Instagram Data Deletion Request and include the email address registered to your Sokofa vendor account.
What to include in your email:
- Your Sokofa account email address
- Your Instagram username (e.g. @yourhandle)
- Whether you want only the Instagram data deleted, or your full Sokofa account closed
We will confirm receipt within 48 hours and complete the deletion within 30 days.
Remove access through Instagram
Remove Sokofa from your connected apps in Instagram settings. Meta will automatically send a deletion signal to Sokofa, and we will delete your data within 30 days.
- 01Open Instagram → tap your profile → tap the hamburger menu (☰)
- 02Go to Settings and privacy → Apps and websites
- 03Find Sokofa in the Active list and tap Remove
- 04Check the box for “Also delete all data…” and confirm
What gets deleted
Deleted: OAuth access token
Deleted: Instagram connection record
Deleted: All imported post data
Deleted: Analytics events linked to your Instagram account
Deleted: Unpublished product drafts from Instagram posts
Kept: Published products (already live on your storefront)
Become standard Sokofa product records, no longer linked to Instagram
Kept: Your Sokofa vendor account
Only deleted if you separately request account closure
Kept: Orders placed by customers
Retained for 7 years under UK financial law
Deletion timeline
Email confirmation sent with a reference code and a status-check URL
All Instagram-linked data permanently deleted from Sokofa's live database
Data purged from encrypted backup snapshots per our backup rotation schedule
Check the status of a deletion request
After submitting a deletion request, you will receive a confirmation email containing a unique reference code and a link to check the status of your request. You can also email privacy@sokofa.com with your reference code at any time.
